SUMMARY:Girona - Volta Catalunya
DESCRIPTION:Many pro-cyclists live in Girona and use it as a cycle training base due to its climate\, varied terrain and excellent road quality.  \n\n\n\n2026 will be our 12th year of visiting and riding in this amazing place and we are revamping our trip there with a new and exciting format. \nThe 2026 edition will be 8 nights\, 7 days of riding and will involve 4 nights in Girona itself and 4 nights in regional Catalunya so as to fully exploit this amazing region \nAfter so many year of riding in this area we know the roads intimately. Each day of this trip will be flexible in it’s routing to take into account rider levels and weather conditions. Stronger riders will have an opportunity for more distance and elevation every day if needed. \nTypical distances each day will be 90km-130km with between 1000m and 2500m of elevation gain. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nGirona – Volta Catalunya\, the schedule\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSaturday May 2\n\n\n\nArrival day – we pick up from Girona airport or Barcelona airport. \n\n\n\nWe’ll collect you and get you settled into our hotel in Girona’s old town.  \n\n\n\nThere will be an opportunity for a short guided ride on the Saturday afternoon. \n\n\n\nSunday May 3\n\n\n\nGirona – Girona \nA local ride most likely taking in the classic climbs of Angels and Santa Pellaia \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMonday May 4\nGirona – Olot \n\n\n\n\n\nToday we head inland and deep into the volcanic Garrotxa region. We’ll climb to the spectacular Coll de Condreu\, El Far and Coll de Bracons before settling down for the first of 2 nights in a rustic\, authentic farmhouse near Olot. \nTuesday May 5\nOlot – Olot \nA chance today to head deeper into the Pyrenees with Coll de Canes and the climb of Vallter 2000 on the agenda. \nWednesday May 6\nOlot – Calella de Palafrugell \nA superb ride to the Mediterranean with some big challenges on the way. Highlight of the day is likely to be the ascent of the stunning Mare de Deu del Mont. We arrive in Calella for the first of 2 nights at the beach. \nThursday May 7\nCalella – Calella \nExpect some short steep climbs today as we explore the coast around Llafranc and Begur. Some painful climbs will be numbed by the fabulous views! \nFriday May 8\nCalella – Girona \nToday we’ll ride the epic stretch of coastal road from St Feliu to Tossa de Mar. Then we’ll head inland to spend our final 2 nights of the trip back in Girona. \nSaturday May 9\nGirona – Girona \nOur final day will see a likely ascent of the famous Rocacorba climb. A fitting way to finish the trip. \nSunday May 10\nReturn transfers to Girona and Barcelona Airports. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho will enjoy this trip?\n\n\n\nThis trip will suit a wide range of riders.  \n\n\n\nRiding comfortably in a group environment will be beneficial. There will be a considerable amount of cycling in groups outside of the more significant climbs.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWhat we include\n\n\n\n\n8 nights accommodation\, 4 of which is bed and breakfast\, the other 4 including evening meal. Twin share.\n\n\n\nSingle occupancy is available at extra cost.\n\n\n\nTransfers to and from Girona Airport (Barcelona Airport transfers available at small extra cost).\n\n\n\n7 day of guided rides.\n\n\n\nFull vehicle vehicle support on 6 days.\n\n\n\nInformal evening lectures from a qualified coach.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWhat we don’t include\n\n\n\n\nTravel insurance.\n\n\n\nDrinks\, snacks and evening meals on 4 of the nights.\n\n\n\nFlights to and from Girona/Barcelona.\n\n\n\n\nContact us to learn more or to book.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIMPORTANT\n\n\n\nWe include transfers to and from Girona airport in the package.
