Alpine Cadence cycle team
We are a small team of highly motivated cyclists who love to share our passion for cycling with others. We are based in the Alps but we cycle worldwide.
John is a co-director of Alpine Cadence and is the chief guide on all our tours and camps. John is a qualified Level 3 Coach with the Association of British Cycling Coaches (ABBC).
John takes part in events all over the world. Recent successes included winning the Haute Route Alps/Dolomites combined event in 2019 and finishing 5th in the 2022 Granfondo World Championships. John was the fastest British rider in the 2019 Etape du Tour and came 25th overall in the 2019 Taiwan KOM challenge event. Until recently, John held a Guinness World Record too, with the most vertical metres climbed on a bike in 12 hours, set on September 11th 2016, when he completed 9847m of climbing with multiple ascents of his local Montchavin climb in the French Alps.
Stijn is a regular guide on our trips and is as keen and professional as they come!
Having moved from his native Belgium to live in the Alps, Stijn can now fuel his passion for riding in the beautiful hills in which we live.
Stijn is impressively multilingual, and his patience and support on our adventures add enormously to our riders’ experiences.
Simon finds time to guide with us in between his other sporting adventures.
Climbing, mountaineering and ski instructing mean much of his life is spent deep and high in the mountains of Europe.
A keen triathlete, too, Simon is always happy to share his skills and abilities on the bike.
David’s home is beautiful Santander in northern Spain, with the superb Picos de Europa looming behind.
We’ve managed to drag David away for him to be able to guide for us in various European destinations, taking advantage of his infectious enthusiasm for cycling and the great outdoors.
David’s extensive experience of the roads of Europe makes him a great guide and asset to our team.
Oliver has guided with us for many years and has become a regular and integral part of many of our tours. An immensely strong cyclist, Oliver loves the thrill of racing as well as being a patient and supportive guide for our tours.
What Oliver doesn’t know about every aspect of cycling simply isn’t worth knowing! Unceasingly keen to share that knowledge, Oliver provides great and friendly company on and off the bike.
